YES we can!

Someone wrote, “Like that other time when the current president of AoL in the US shared at a small intimate dinner just after Bush was elected for his second term that SSRS had said Bush would not finish this second term. We were also asked not to talk about this with anyone. For good reason, I'd say! :)”

Actually, SSRS swore Barack Obama would not win the elections. “He is too young and inexperienced. He has no chances.” He supported Hilary instead but brown nosed all of DC, just in case, despite his predictions. After Obama’s victory, he borrowed the famous slogan: YES we can! And is now “yes we canning” all over the planet promoting the YES+ courses.

I would not be shocked if one day they start saying Obama got inspired by the AoL to come out with the “Yes we can” slogan.

Yes, Obama could.

You are doing a great service to many by starting this blog. There has been many doubts about the social projects, transparency of the money collected and the true character of Sri Sri. This exposure coming from an insider confirms a lot of doubts in the minds of many followers. Please keep this blog going for the benefit of those who are not able to make up their minds as to whether they should leave or stay in the organisation.

I have been following guruphiliac for a while, and now am following your blog. I am very familiar with AOL as well. I agree with you guys for the most part. One thing I am curious about is that of all the posters on jody's blog, and now you, noone has given their names. Why? Is Sri Sri so powerful that he will be able to destroy you still, after you have left and are leading a happy life. I also follow the site exbaba.com and so many of the Sathya Sai baba exposers have given their names, even adolescents that have been sexually molested. What's stopping all of you guys? It would lend more credibility to the blog, is all.

Anita, the fact a YES+ teacher worked in Obama's campaign is not an indication of Sri Sri' political preference during the last elections. Most young people supported Obama during the last elections. I would hope AoL members's political ideals are not influenced also on SriSri's opinion (although it could happen). It was almost obvious (the world knew) the Republicans had very little chances of winning after 2 controversial administrations. Supporting the Democratic party was the right choice yet he sent representatives to brown nose all candidates, all parties. He did say Obama would not win. And, as many of his predictions, it failed.

Vinita, I have not problem revealing my identity. I posted my resignation letter on Jody's blog in early 2008 and Jody thought it would save me the trouble of being harassed by overzealous AoL supporters to not reveal my ID at the time. Jody had to be a good judge of it since he has experienced it first hand. So I agreed, because, quite honestly I wasn't looking forward to receiving tens of emails about this and since there was a public forum to discuss these issues at Jody's blog. Those immediately concerned in my local satsang knew who I was since they received the same information from me directly. Anyway, if you insist to know my identity, here's an email address: zhoro72@yahoo.com.

Thanks for blessing our attempts here to bring the hidden facts to light. :)

In relation to the topic of AoL's outreach into influential circles, one of the most comical such memories is of the big gala on the occasion of the 25th aniversary which took place in DC sometime in the spring of 2007. There were a bunch of legislators and representatives of other organizations in state alongside the AoL brass (then senator Joe Biden was there as well) and everyone gave a speech on the occasion. It was obvious that many of these people had no idea what AoL was and were just giving general talk on US-India relations. Meanwhile, the audience - almost exclusively AoL members - were drooling over the success and influence of their Guru-God. :)

Vinita ,

It is the credibility of your ultrahyped guru that is teetering.Facts speak for themselves.Hence lack of our names ought not to unduly bother smart people like you:))

Thank you for this blog. I came here because I have recently been invited to take the AoL course. I have been participating in weekly yoga gatherings with the group. Many red flags were going up about the authenticity of SSRS and AoL. I grew up in a household with a Guru who "fell from grace", Amrit Desai of Kripalu. I just couldn't get a nagging sensation out of my head that something was out of integrity with AoL. Though, it is very subtle. I can't even do the course because of it even though I'm very open to new techniques and interested in AoL. I think I can always learn from other teachers or other techniques where I don't have an intuitive unsettled feeling. Thanks again.

Contrary to your statements in most college campuses including mine in Bangalore AOL teachers are treated with serious doubts and are considered regressive. Not fashionable at all. Most people who get into AOL are teased as sissies and gays. Check out facebook and you will know. Just take a survey in these colleges and majority have serious doubts about the organizations integrity and also the techniques they teach.

Completely agree with Naveen. It is fashionable in our college to mock the plethora of godmen-conmen who want to teach us the right path. It is not just AOL in our college. Mahaveer Jain College in Bangalore noticeboard is full of sri sirs, babas, paramahamsas, rishis and gurujis.
Nityananda offering life bliss, Jaggi Vasudev offering inner engineering, Patri offering pyramid meditation, Rishi Prabhakar offering SSY and Kaya Kalpa Yoga, Vinay Vinekar offering his Sevak program, Ramachandra Guruji gets you access to your past life, Sahaj yoga of mataji gets your kundalini raised effortlessly. Its a pretty competative market out here. Each one claims to be the largest and biggest something.

@ Ranganath

The competitive Yoga market in big cities in India is a whole lot better than the bullshitting American Protestant Missionaries trying to 'harvest' souls in rural India and trying every trick in the book to destroy Hindu culture.

Ranganath, my friend I must agree with you as one who was raised on the bullshit of American Protestant Missionaries. The horse shit of these here yogis is much more tasty!

This is all very nice about SSRS, Bush and Obama and all that, makes interesting prose, but is there anything concrete to back up these statements?

It would take me all of five minutes to create a blog and post stuff about SSRS cavorting with the horned green beings from Andromeda.
